International development is one of the fastest growing parts of the U.S. nonprofit sector. Roughly 1,000 new international development organizations are launched every year.
We have been studying small and mid-sized international aid groups for over a decade, and we know that many want to build their capacity as development actors. The goal of this study is to learn more about the current operations, existing capacity, and the challenges confronted by international aid nonprofits.
We are building on previous research on the Indiana Nonprofit Sector and the Civic Life of Cities to learn more about this critical part of the nonprofit sector. Our results will ensure that leaders in the nonprofit and international development fields have better data to support these organizations.
